A new Ebola outbreak in eastern DR Congo has reportedly killed at least 65 people, with Uganda confirming a linked imported case after a patient died on May 14 following hemorrhagic symptoms. Health officials said the outbreak involves the rare Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, first discovered in 2007 and known to cause death in about 30% of cases. Preliminary tests detected Ebola in 13 out of 20 samples collected in Congo, with more suspected infections under investigation near the Uganda and South Sudan borders.
