There's something else fan-made Battlefield 1942 mods made me realize. The original game (and it's expansions) featured about 30 historical battles, but modders have added hundreds more, some of which I had never heard of before.
It made me realize how, despite WWII being the modern West's foundational myth, there is so little in mainstream culture about the actual military history. Everything in the media and education is entirely focused on Jews and "anti-Semitism". The actual war has been reduced to a footnote.
There are countless movies, documentaries, games, etc. about WWII, but so much of the military history has only ever been turned into media by anonymous online moders.
