Udayana is called Bharata-vanshi, proving a long oral tradition tied to Mahabharata’s antiquity.
In the second act of प्रतिज्ञा यौगन्धरायणम्, Mahasena Pradyota refers to Udayana as a descendant of the Bharata lineage.
In the sixth act (verse 16) of स्वप्नवासवदत्ता, it is stated:
“भारतानां कुले जातो विनीतो” (6. 16)
