Stars vary greatly in color based on their temperature. Red dwarfs are relatively cool stars, while blue supergiants burn extremely hot. In between is a mix of orange, yellow (Sun), and white stars. The hotter a star gets, the more volatile it is. Meaning blue supergiants only live for a few million years. Incredibly, red dwarfs can live for hundreds of billions of years, with some possibly able to live for trillions of years!
