To my other half,
I know this might sound strange. We have only met once. We have never really talked, never shared the kind of memories that give two people a reason to write letters to each other. And yet, somehow, I feel as though there is something I cannot quite explain.
Maybe you are the person I have been waiting for. Maybe you are my other half, my soulmate, the person who will one day make me feel complete. Or maybe I am simply imagining someone who does not even know that I exist. But if you are out there, I want to tell you something.
As much as I may love you someday, as much as a part of me may long for you to come into my life, I don't want you to come into it yet. Not because I don't want you. Because I want to be ready for you.
There are still parts of me that I need to change. Parts I need to develop. Parts of myself that I need to understand, and some that I need to leave behind completely. I don't want to meet you while I am still trying to figure out who I am.
You deserve someone who knows how to love properly. Someone who has grown enough to understand the value of what they have. Someone who doesn't bring all their unfinished battles into another person's life. And I am not that person yet.
So, wherever you are, please stay there for a little longer. Grow. Learn. Live your life. Become the person you are meant to be. I will do the same.
Maybe one day, when we meet again—or when I finally meet you for the first time—we will both be different people. Better people. And maybe then, I won't have to wonder whether I am ready for you.
Until that day, I will keep working on myself. Not because I am trying to become perfect. But because if you really are my other half, I want to meet you as someone who has something beautiful to give you, not as someone asking you to complete what I refused to complete within myself.
So don't come into my life yet.
Wait for me.
And if fate is kind enough to bring us together someday, I hope I will be ready to say:
“I've been waiting for you.”
Until then, take care of yourself.
By far the most heartfelt one. Make sure to give it a read.
How was it?
