While many people see only the vessel alongside the berth, the real work begins long before arrival.
Transiting narrow channels, managing traffic, monitoring under keel clearance, working with pilots and tugs, and executing a safe berthing manoeuvre require concentration, experience and teamwork from the entire bridge team.
