Abraham was ordered by God to sacrifice his kid. We all know this story. Some people argue that this specific story has a psychological influence on believers, and I would say, I don't know about that. But the term “because God told me” is so manipulative, and people have been using it for centuries.
A Latter day Saint leader(Joseph Smith) later claimed that he received a word from God to marry many wives. David Koresh, who claimed to be the Messiah, followed the same procedure. So many cult leaders use this. One cult leader(marshal applewhite) even ordered his followers to commit suicide believed they were leaving their earth body and transitioning to a higher existence associated with spacecraft.
I don't believe there is new revelation from God, and I am careful when people say, “God told me.”
The woman I told you about her psychiatrist confirmed that she told him, “God told me 'you should kill the kids and then u should come.'”
Which God?? 🤔
