⚡️ Flares of "extra product" are coming off the BP refinery in Whiting, Indiana

A power outage at the BP refinery has led to the implementation of the shut down process.

"This flaring is a safety release to burn off the extra product and is a normal process during an event," the city claimed.

Employees have been evacuated.

Local reporting claims there are six flares.
