🔹 National Teachers’ Awards 2026
• President Droupadi Murmu will confer the awards on 48 school teachers at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on 5 September 2026.
• Awardees represent 27 States, 7 Union Territories and 6 Central Government organisations.
• The selected teachers include 26 men and 22 women.
• Notable awardees include J. Prakash Rao from Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Khushboo Kumari and Pushpa Prasad from Bihar, Suman Goel from Delhi and Md. Zafar Alam from an Eklavya Model Residential School.
🔹 12th BRICS Communications Ministers’ Meeting
• Held in Pune, Maharashtra, under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026.
• Chaired by Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.
• Theme : “Innovate, Cooperate and Transform (ICT) for a Resilient Future.”
• Key focus areas included resilient ICT infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital skilling, startups and innovation.
🔹 BRICS Tourism Ministers Adopt Jaipur Declaration
• The BRICS Tourism Ministers’ Meeting concluded in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
• Four priorities : AI and Tourism, Sustainable and Responsible Tourism, Tourism Skilling and Capacity Building, and Seamless Travel Facilitation.
🔹 BRICS Science Ministerial Meeting
• The BRICS Science Ministerial Meet was held in Chennai under India’s 2026 Chairship.
• Discussions highlighted cooperation in areas such as AI, quantum technologies, biotechnology, advanced materials, photonics, geospatial technologies and high performance computing.
🔹 India Nepal Joint Working Group
• The 14th India Nepal Joint Working Group meeting was held in Dehradun on 20 and 21 August 2026.
• It reviewed bilateral cooperation and coordination between the two countries.
🔹 25th India UK Defence Consultative Group Meeting
• India and the United Kingdom conducted the 25th Defence Consultative Group meeting.
• The mechanism reviews bilateral defence cooperation and opportunities for deeper military and defence industry engagement.
🔹 Terrier Cyber Quest 2026
• The Territorial Army launched the national level hackathon Terrier Cyber Quest 2026 in collaboration with CyberPeace.
• Focus areas include AI, cybersecurity, threat mitigation and digital awareness.
• Three tracks : Bug Hunting, AI Kavach and Creators Challenge.
• Grand Finale will be held in New Delhi from 6 to 8 October 2026.
🔹 Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme
• MeitY notified the Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme, MPMS, with an outlay of ₹62,500 crore.
• The scheme aims to deepen Domestic Value Addition, strengthen the mobile manufacturing supply chain and support Indian mobile brands.
• It also promotes indigenous design, R&D, patents and employment generation.
🔹 PM AASHA
• PIB highlighted the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan, PM AASHA.
• The scheme supports remunerative prices for farmers and strengthens government intervention for procurement and price support of agricultural produce.
🔹 National Senior Citizens’ Day : 21 August
• PIB offices observed National Senior Citizens’ Day on 21 August.
• The day highlights welfare, dignity and recognition of senior citizens.
