Al-Mayadeen: Ali Larijani, the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, was announced as a martyr according to a statement by the Secretariat, following a US-Israeli aggression overnight Monday.
A towering figure in Iran’s political and intellectual life, Larijani’s legacy stretches from the battlefield ranks of the IRGC to being one of the main figures of Iran's political landscape. He served as parliament speaker from 2008 to 2020, was a trusted advisor to martyr Sayyed Ali Khamenei, and the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council twice, between 2005 and 2007, and then from August 2025.
Yet beyond titles, he was a man of conviction, one who relentlessly warned the US and "Israel" that Iran would not yield, declaring, "We will not leave you until you admit your mistake and pay the price."
Even in his final moments, in his final message, his words carried the weight of sacrifice, honoring fallen soldiers and vowing that martyrdom would only strengthen the nation’s resolve.
"Their memory will remain eternal in the hearts of the Iranian people, and this martyrdom will strengthen the foundations of the Islamic Republic’s army within the armed forces for many years to come. I ask Almighty God to grant these dear martyrs the highest ranks of courage," Larijani wrote.
