How BAPS Medical Vans are Serving Remote Villages

For years, these families lived in extreme isolation. With no paved roads or nearby clinics, medical emergencies often turned tragic. Pregnant women were carried for miles on bamboo stretchers, many not surviving the journey. Others relied on dangerous superstitions, or mortgaged their land to afford a distant hospital.
When BAPS Charities launched its medical initiative in 1997, it was met with deep distrust. Over time, through consistent and compassionate service, it earned the community's trust.
Today, 13 medical vans reach over 170 villages, treating 260,000 patients every year.
This is the story of how a mobile medical service didn't just treat illness – it restored dignity and hope to a forgotten region.
