ㅤㅤIt’s Sunday, which means family day at the Caltbern house—and since it’s also the last weekend of the month, we decided it was the perfect time for our little picnic. ♡
The day started with Papap and the kids waking up early to do some chores and prepare breakfast for me, all while trying their best not to make another mess after we had just cleaned the house. “Careful, Mama will notice,” Papap warned them. Somehow, they managed, and after breakfast, Papap even brought me a little plate in bed while the kids got ready for the day with their aunties and uncles.
With summer still keeping the days warm, we decided to have our picnic right in the backyard. The kids spent the afternoon painting while I arranged flowers nearby and quietly watched over them. Meanwhile, the aunties and uncles enjoyed their ice creams before somehow ending up in the trees just to tease the kids from above. “Are you all children too?” I asked. No one seemed interested in answering.
After lunch and a much-needed nap, the kids joined me in the kitchen to bake cookies for our afternoon snack, while the aunties sneaked out and returned with animal balloons as a surprise. By dinner, Papap took over the kitchen and made homemade pizzas for everyone. And despite everything we had done that day, the kids still had enough energy left for one last game night.
So Papap and I simply sat back and watched them laugh. Just another Sunday—full stomachs, little messes, warm sunshine, and a home that always feels a little happier when everyone is together. ♡
