💢 Putin said Germany’s accusations against Russia over the Leipzig drone incident are driven primarily by Berlin’s domestic political crisis, arguing that Chancellor Friedrich Merz is losing public trust because he “does not defend national interests, but trades them away.”
Putin pointed to factory closures, job losses and falling living standards, and recalled that German authorities had previously accused Russia of blowing up Nord Stream. Russia remains ready to supply gas to Europe, he said, and Germany only has to approve it and “press the button.” “But they don’t have the guts, because of the American sanctions.”
With ratings falling and election campaigns approaching, including in Saxony, Putin called Berlin’s course “another grave mistake” that directly contradicts the interests of the German people.
