💢 Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei accused Europe of abandoning its claimed “strategic autonomy” by reducing itself to carrying out Washington’s orders.
Invoking Étienne de La Boétie’s Discourse on Voluntary Servitude, Baghaei argued that domination survives not through force alone, but through the acquiescence of those capable of acting independently. Europe, he said, must choose between acting independently or becoming so accustomed to echoing US policy that it mistakes obedience for autonomy.
