Russia and China are reportedly considering a river trade corridor… — Xoaquin Flores - New Resistance — TG.ME

💢 Russia and China are reportedly considering a river trade corridor that could give China inland access to the Arctic, according to the South China Morning Post.

The proposed route would follow the 4,248-km Irtysh River from Xinjiang through Kazakhstan into Russia, where it joins the Ob and ultimately reaches the Arctic Ocean.

SCMP says the corridor could provide China with another route to the resource-rich Arctic while bypassing maritime chokepoints such as the Malacca and Bering straits.
