Education Ministry: KCSE Will Not Be Postponed The Ministry of Education has confirmed that the 2026 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations will proceed as scheduled despite forecasts of heavy El Niño rains. Director of Administration Kanyi Gioko said national examinations are “zero-sum” and cannot be postponed or delayed because all candidates must sit the same papers at the same time across the country. KCSE is scheduled to run from 2nd to 20th November 2026, overlapping with the expected October–December rains. Officials acknowledged that flooding could make some roads and examination centres inaccessible. In such cases, the ministry may close or relocate affected centres. Contingency plans include mapping vulnerable areas in advance, delivering examination materials by helicopter and drone, and using air transport where necessary.
