Behind The Music | 🎸 michael_konlaa Henry Smith wrote "Give Thanks" in 1978 during a tough season. He’d just graduated but couldn’t find work, and was facing a degenerative eye condition that would leave him legally blind. Encouraged by 2 Corinthians 8:9 — Christ becoming poor so we could be rich — he wrote it as gratitude in hardship. First shared at his church in Williamsburg, VA, it spread when a military couple took it to Germany. Integrity Music published it in 1986 with "author unknown" until Smith claimed credit.
