The main reason is that excessive exposure to social media can have a negative impact on young people's mental well-being, particularly when they constantly compare themselves with others or encounter harmful content.
Another important point is that reasonable restrictions could encourage teenagers to engage in more face-to-face interaction. Spending less time online may give them more opportunities to develop genuine communication skills and stronger relationships in real life.
That said, I can understand the opposing view. Social media can also be an invaluable educational and informational resource, and overly strict regulations could limit teenagers' freedom of expression and prevent them from developing essential digital skills.
Overall, I would argue that controlled and age-appropriate restrictions are preferable to a complete ban. The aim should not be to isolate teenagers from technology, but rather to help them use it responsibly, safely and effectively
