What to do for MEO Class 2 Exams by Marine Help Bot (My Experience and Journey) First, you should work on yourself: prepare and motivate your mind to clear your exams within a set period of time. Give time for self-study (this is the most important aspect and factor in your Class 2 journey). How to start Class 2: First, you need to prepare thoroughly regarding your ship (i.e., all systems, types of engines and auxiliaries with models and nomenclature, types of pumps, tests conducted, clearances etc). For this, you need to read the manuals. Also, try to collect all the manuals from the ship, as you will need to refresh your memory and use them as references to frame your answers during the exams. I know that we rarely have the time or mental peace to read and prepare anything onboard, but just try to do as much as you can. The best thing you can do is figure out which exams you can appear for—whether single subjects, pairs, or all together. It depends on your will and capability. (For me, I appeared in pairs: 2 writtens and 1 oral, because I knew my capability. It differs for everyone; many attempt all 6 together. As per my knowledge, few pass all 6, some pass 4-5, some pass 1-3, and some failed all.) Try to clear your doubt by Manuals, Books, youtube. For Writtens Try to make your handwriting good (i.e., legible). If the examiner can't understand what you have explained, it's waste of time. (Self-experienced). Loophole if you are not able to make your handwriting legible: Try to draw diagrams. Focus on questions that involve diagrams. Be creative by making flow charts i.e. it should look appealing so that even if you can't make the examiner understand through your handwriting, you can show that you know the system. (This was my experience, as I write like a doctor.) The subject that will make your life miserable is Safety, as you need to attempt 5 questions in 2 hours. So, try to be creative with bullet points and flow charts if possible. How and what to study: Prepare Nitin notes or prepare at least 10 months of past papers for the theory part. For the numerical part: * MET: Follow the Met Sunil PDF. * Naval Arch: Use Ocean Cadence or topic-wise PDFs for Naval. For understanding, you should refer to Naval Reeds. (All material is available on my Telegram channel for free) For Orals You should prepare for your ships systems well, as mentioned earlier. Study basic questions because if you fail to answer the basics, you will fail. Try to read the preferred notes: * Safety: Avijeet, Stern Tube, and latest amendments. (In ammendment keep it on fingertip i.e. If surveyor is asking you any topic and you know it's latest ammendment just add with your answer don't wait to let him ask about it) * Electrical: Om Namah Shivay, DT Hall. * Motor/MEP: Jibin James or Kalash Tiwari , Naveen (Deven Aranha as much as possible) (please refer to your manuals for systems and clearances). Do the latest questions. Everyone knows about the systems but we often don't have an idea of what specific questions can be asked about them. So, you should be well-prepared for that. Last but not least: Do self-study; it's the key to success. Don't get demotivated if you fail. Just accept it, whether it was your mistake or bad luck. Forget it all and rise again with stronger preparation, overcoming your mistakes. This is what my Journey was, I Hope these points are helpful for you all. I failed too, but I accepted my mistakes.
