كان الصحابي حكيم بن حزام رضي اللّه عنه من أشراف قريش وكان يطلب العلم عند الصحابي معاذ بن جبل رضي اللّه عنه رغم أنه كان أكبر من معاذ بخمسين سنة!
The Companion Hakim ibn Hizam, may Allah be pleased with him, was from the nobles of Quraysh, and he used to seek knowledge from the Companion Muadh ibn Jabal, may Allah be pleased with him, despite the fact that he was fifty years older than Muadh!
فقيل له: أنت تتعلم على يد هذا الغلام؟!
So it was said to him: "You are learning at the hand of this young man?!"
فقال: إنما أهلكنا التكبر!
So he said: "It is only arrogance that destroyed us!"
