Croup, also known as
laryngotracheobronchitis.
بالعربي يسموه الخناق او الخنيزيره
is a type of respiratory infection that is usually caused by a virus. The infection leads to swelling inside the trachea, which interferes with normal breathing and produces the classic symptoms of "barking/brassy" cough, inspiratory stridor and a hoarse voice. Fever and runny nose may also be present. These symptoms may be mild, moderate, or severe. Often it starts or is worse at night and normally lasts one to two
days.

العلاج
Treatment with oral corticosteroids and nebulized epinephrine
يعني الستيرويد الي هو dexamethasone ننطيه يشربه وجرعته 0.6 mg / kg
وال epinephrine ننطيه تبخير ونكدر نعيده لحد ال٣ مرات لحد ما تخف ال cough .
طبعا بعده supportive treatment مثل
الأوكسجين إذا كان جوه 92% نحطه على اوكسجين

In cases of possible secondary bacterial infection, the antibiotics vancomycin and cefotaxime are
recommended
ال Prognosis
مثل ما تعرفون ال viral هو self-limiting disease
لذلك كلش rarely تصير complications
بس ممكن توصل حالات لحد ال death من سببين الي هنه
respiratory failure and/or cardiac arrest
Other uncommon complications include bacterial tracheitis, pneumonia, and pulmonary edema
