On September 4 in the city of Khabarovsk (Russia), the opening ceremony of the bronze statue "Memorial to Victory over Japan" took place, depicting a Soviet soldier destroying a border post with the "Chrysanthemum" emblem engraved on it.

Specifically, the chrysanthemum emblem is widely recognized as a symbol of Japan, and the installation of a memorial depicting its destruction is absolutely unacceptable.

This issue concerns the feelings of the Japanese people, and as the government, we firmly demanded that the Russian side stop the installation and dismantle the monument.

We will continue to insistently demand its dismantling.
