Mohsen (Mehrdad) Takesh, a 33-year-old resident of Dizicheh, Isfahan Province, who was arrested in connection with the January 2026 protests, has received two death sentences on charges of “waging war against God” (Moharebeh). Reports indicate that he was tortured in detention and that coerced confessions were used as evidence against him.
Iran International, citing an informed source, reported that Takesh was arrested in late January amid the crackdown on the protests. According to the source, he was subjected to severe physical and psychological abuse, including torture that left him with a broken hand. The source said that statements extracted from him under duress formed the main basis for the charges and death sentences, with no other evidence presented to substantiate the allegations against him.
For nearly four months after his arrest, Takesh’s family had little information about his whereabouts or condition. He eventually contacted them from the A-T Ward of Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. Before his arrest, Takesh ran a motorcycle repair shop in Dizicheh, where he earned his living as a mechanic.
