Thinking outside the box...err, coop?
So many flock friends have had heat issues this past year.
Being in triple digits normally throughout the summertime here, I wanted to share some things I do to help my girls "beat the heat" .
a swamp cooler works by utilizing water 💧
air cools when blowing over ice 🧊
Not only does this provide shade for that hot & heavy afternoon sun & heat here in AZ; but I am also able to soak it down multiple times a day so the breeze helps cool the inside of the run and coop, too.
When I walk into the coop/run it is immediately cooler than without the set up. My girls also get a pan of water to stand in & fresh veggies, such as lettuce & cucumbers & greens, to help keep them hydrated.
