A Reflection of God’s Love vs. Our Love
The Scriptures make it clear that our love for God or for our families, as deep as it may be, cannot compare to His love for us. In 1 John 4:10, emphasizes that love begins not with us loving God, but with Him loving us first. Jesus echoes this in John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends,” pointing to His own sacrifice as the ultimate proof of divine love.
Even the call to love God above all else in passages like Matthew 22:37 reflects this truth: our love is always a response to His immeasurable love. The term “agapē" highlights a selfless, divine love that surpasses human affection. While we are commanded to love our families and God with all our heart, mind, and strength, the Scriptures show that God’s love is the source, the model, and the measure. Our love, no matter how great, can never exceed or equal the perfect love He has already poured out through Christ Jesus for us.
May the love of God shine so bright in all of us. Have a blessed day everyone!🕊🙏🏽❤️
