Dear Google Maps Team,
I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits.
We are writing as a group of concerned users to respectfully highlight a significant geographical inaccuracy in your map service. The body of water currently labeled as the “Arabian Gulf” has, for over two thousand years, been historically and internationally recognized as the Persian Gulf.
The term “Persian Gulf” is deeply rooted in historical documentation, appearing in the works of renowned figures such as Herodotus and Ptolemy, as well as in numerous Islamic and Western sources. Moreover, this name is officially recognized by the United Nations and the majority of international institutions and authoritative references, including the National Geographic Society and Encyclopædia Britannica.
The use of alternative names compromises historical and geographical accuracy and may inadvertently contribute to cultural and political disputes. We kindly urge you to adhere to established international standards by correcting the label on Google Maps to “Persian Gulf.”
Thank you for your attention and continued commitment to accuracy and integrity in your mapping services.
Sincerely,
A group of concerned users
