U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces struck three Iranian crude oil tankers earlier today after the IRGC launched anti-ship ballistic missiles toward two U.S. Navy warships operating in regional waters.
The M/T Downy was disabled near Kharg Island, and it's very likely this is the tanker related to the first reports of explosions off the island. The M/T Stark 1 was disabled near Jask.
The M/T Kylo, meanwhile, was sunk in the Gulf of Oman. It's crew was ordered to evacuate by the U.S. before the strikes.
