YOUR BRAIN IS NOT A METRONOME
You were not built for eight uninterrupted hours of output.
Attention rises.
Attention drifts.
Attention returns.
That is not failure. It is rhythm.
⟁
The brain spends energy selecting what matters and filtering what does not. After sustained concentration, performance can soften—not because you are lazy, but because your nervous system is constantly updating its internal map.
The modern response is usually more stimulation: another tab, another coffee, another notification.
A better response may be a deliberate interruption.
A brief walk. A window. A glass of water. Two minutes without input.
⟁
Try this experiment: work in one focused block, then step away before your attention collapses. Do not replace the task with scrolling. Give your sensory system a lower-information environment.
The point is not to optimize every minute.
The point is to respect the wave.
Your attention does not need punishment.
It needs pacing.
