🧹 Smartphone digital hygiene in 5 minutes
No need to install ten apps or read manuals. Three settings leak more about you than everything else combined.
⏱️ 1. App permissions (2 min)
Most apps ask for access "just in case," not because they need it.
🔒 Android: Settings → Privacy → Permission manager
🔒 iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security
Go through three things: Camera, Microphone, Location. Simple rule: a flashlight doesn't need your mic, and a game doesn't need your contacts. Revoke anything that doesn't add up.
📍 2. Location (1.5 min)
Two things worth checking on every app:
✅ Access set to "While Using," not "Always"
✅ Turn off "Precise Location" where rough is enough (weather, delivery and maps work fine without it)
The fewer apps that know your exact spot 24/7, the better.
🆔 3. Advertising ID (1 min)
This is an invisible "number" ad networks use to build your profile and link your activity across apps.
🔒 iPhone: Settings → Privacy → Tracking → turn off "Allow Apps to Request to Track." Also disable "Personalized Ads" under Apple Advertising.
🔒 Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → Delete advertising ID
