📲 Telegram’s t.me links went Offline Worldwide then came back
Telegram’s t. me short links briefly stopped working across the globe after the .ME domain registry placed the domain on serverHold over OFAC compliance concerns.
The issue was reportedly triggered after a U.S.-sanctioned ransomware-linked VPN provider listed a t.me channel as one of its contact methods. The registry temporarily suspended the domain while addressing the compliance issue.
Telegram founder Pavel Durov publicly called out the registry, and the service was restored shortly afterward.
What is OFAC?
🇺🇸 The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is a U.S. Treasury agency that enforces economic sanctions against countries, organizations, cybercriminals, terrorists, and other national security threats by restricting transactions and blocking assets.
