Modal verbs – use
استخدام الأفعال الناقصة 📚
Modal verbs are not used on their own. They are used with other verbs to express different meanings.
لا تُستخدم الأفعال الناقصة بمفردها. تُستخدم مع أفعال أخرى للتعبير عن معانٍ مختلفة. 🤔

You are not certain.
أنت لست متأكدًا. 🤷♂️
Example: It may (not) might (not) could be a toothbrush.
مثال: قد (لا) يكون (لا) يمكن أن يكون فرشاة أسنان. 🪥
You are certain.
أنت متأكد. ✅
Examples: (Positive) It must be a toothbrush. (Negative) It can t be a toothbrush.
أمثلة: (إيجابي) يجب أن تكون فرشاة أسنان. (سلبي) لا يمكن أن تكون فرشاة أسنان. 🪥
Note: "Must not" and "can t" can only be used when you want to tell somebody that they are not allowed to do something.
ملاحظة: يمكن استخدام "يجب ألا" و"لا يمكن" فقط عندما تريد إخبار شخص ما بأنه غير مسموح له بفعل شيء ما. 🚫
Example: You must not look at your books during an exam.
مثال: يجب ألا تنظر إلى كتبك أثناء الامتحان. 📚🚫
Ability
القدرة 💪
"Can" refers to the present. "Could" is used to refer to the past, after "have," or in conditional sentences.
"يمكن" تشير إلى الحاضر. "يمكن" تُستخدم للإشارة إلى الماضي، بعد "have"، أو في الجمل الشرطية. ⏳
Examples: I can/cannot swim. I could (not) swim when I was six. I wish I could swim. If I lived near the sea, I could learn to swim.
أمثلة: أستطيع/لا أستطيع السباحة. كنت أستطيع (لا أستطيع) السباحة عندما كنت في السادسة. أتمنى أن أستطيع السباحة. إذا كنت أعيش بالقرب من البحر، يمكنني تعلم السباحة. 🏊♂️
Note: You can use "be able to" instead of "can."
ملاحظة: يمكنك استخدام "أن تكون قادرًا على" بدلاً من "يمكن". 💡
Examples: I am able to swim. I wish I was able to swim.
أمثلة: أنا قادر على السباحة. أتمنى أن أكون قادرًا على السباحة. 🏊♂️
"Sense" verbs + object + verb
أفعال "الحس" + مفعول به + فعل 👂👀
Some sense verbs are followed by the -ing form. This emphasizes the action as continuous and is often used for setting the scene. When followed by the infinitive, this emphasizes that the action is completed.
بعض أفعال الحس يتبعها الفعل بصيغة -ing. هذا يؤكد على أن الفعل مستمر وغالبًا ما يُستخدم لوصف المشهد. عندما يتبعها المصدر، فهذا يؤكد أن الفعل مكتمل. 🎬
Example: I saw/heard/watched the goats come down the street. (And later told the farmer what I saw/heard, etc.)
مثال: رأيت/سمعت/شاهدت الماعز ينزلون في الشارع. (وأخبرت المزارع لاحقًا بما رأيت/سمعت، إلخ.) 🐐
I saw/heard/watched the goats coming down the street. (And tried to stop them coming into the garden.)
