The rebel yell is a call of somewhat unknown origin, with many placing its roots in Celtic war cries, The earliest and most famous usage in the Civil War was during the First Battle of Manassas, called Bull Run by the Federals.
During the storming of the Henry Hill House by General Jackson, General McDowell ordered his men to charge after retreating Federal soldiers, and to "yell like Furies" during. What ensued would have sounded something like this.
