The historic Saint-Simon Church in New Brunswick, Canada, was completely destroyed in an arson attack.
The wooden church was built in 1917 and is believed to have been the largest or tallest wooden church remaining in New Brunswick.
Fire Chief Luc Dugas said motion detectors registered movement inside the church at around 3:20 a.m., shortly before emergency services were called.
Police identified a person of interest early in the investigation and arrested 68-year-old Saint-Simon resident Gilles Mallet the same day.
