Ruling Against Trump Administration: Anthropic's Rights Violated
A federal judge ruled that the Trump administration acted unlawfully against Anthropic by classifying the AI company as a "supply chain risk." Judge Rita Lin decided that this classification violated Anthropic's right to free speech and that the administration's actions against the company were unconstitutional.
The reason: National security is not a license to punish and retaliate against government critics. The ruling follows Anthropic's refusal to allow the use of its technology for mass surveillance of Americans or for autonomous weapons systems in a $200 million contract dispute with the Pentagon.
