American-born former Israeli ambassador to the U.S, Michael Oren: South America is Changing: Why That’s Good News for Israel and the Jews

Oren praises the "renewed interest" of the White House in South American politics celebrating the rightwing shift in Latin America turning the continent into a safe haven for Jewry

Oren concludes that Brazilian president, Lula da Silva, losing the upcoming Brazilian presidential elections this October, would turn South America "the most Israel-friendly continent on earth".

The former ambassador urges Israeli leaders to invest more in South America weary of the pendulum swinging back and bringing back in power pro-Palestine leftists like Nicolás Maduro and Gustavo Petro.

Another cause to the pro-Israel shift in South American politics which Oren cites is the growing Evangelical population in Latin America. Hispanics increasingly abandon Catholicism in favor of U.S-based Neo-Protestant cults. A core tenet of Evangelical Christianity is the belief that the creation of the modern state of Israel in 1948 is the fulfillment of Biblical prophecies in the Book of Deuteronomy which cite "the Gathering of Israel" as a prerequisite for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
