⚜ BREZA ’94 — NANIĆ VS. MLADIĆ In September 1994, the Army of Republika Srpska launched a major offensive in the Bužim area, aiming to break the resistance of the 505th Bužim Brigade and threaten the positions of the 5th Corps of the ARBIH. The assault was intense, but the 505th Brigade, commanded by Izet Nanić, responded with a counteroffensive rather than retreating. ⚔️ Fighting took place across the wider areas of Baštra, Banjani, Ćorkovača, Radoč, Sip and Križ. The 505th Brigade managed to break through enemy positions and inflict a major defeat on the attacking forces. One of the most notable events of the battle was the wounding of Ratko Mladić who fled from the battlefield. The 505th Brigade also captured significant quantities of weapons and equipment, including tanks and a command vehicle. “Breza ’94” remains remembered as one of the greatest victories of the 505th Bužim Brigade and one of the battles that cemented its reputation as one of the most capable formations of the ARBIH.
