39 U.S. Banking Associations Launch Nationwide “BankChain”
39 banking associations representing thousands of U.S. banks have formed the BankChain Alliance.
Goal: Build a nationwide blockchain network owned, designed, and governed by the banking industry itself. The network will support payments, tokenized deposits, stablecoins, and automated settlement. It is not intended to operate as a closed system and is designed to be interoperable with other networks. The project is expected to launch in 2027 and is currently seeking technology partners.
Traditional U.S. banks are proactively upgrading to blockchain so they do not get left behind.
