The only reason the term 'ethnonationalism' exists is because of ideological outgrowths (distortions) of nationalism like Christian, civic and racial have emerged in recent centuries.
Authentic nationalism doesn't need the 'ethno' modifier. Nation and ethnicity have historically and universally been synonymous.
