Remember to fast 6 days of Shawwal to maximise your rewards!

Abu Ayyub (رضي الله عنه) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan and then follows it with six days of fasting in the month of Shawwal, it will be as if he has fasted for the entire year.”

[Sahih Muslim 1164]

If you have any missed fasts, remember to make them up before fasting the 6 days of Shawwal.

After Eid, you may fast these days consecutively or spread it out over the month of Shawwal, whichever is easier for you.

Why does fasting 6 days of Shawwal equal a whole year?

Thawban reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Fasting the month of Ramadan is like ten months of fasting and fasting six days of Shawwal is like two months of fasting. Thus, they are like fasting for a year.”

[Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 2115 Grade: Sahih by Al Albani]

From this hadith (and many others) scholars have mentioned that 1 good deed is rewarded with 10 like it (at the minimum).

So 1 fast = 10
30 (or 29) days fasting = 300 (or 290)

6 days of shawwal = 60

This equals 360 (or 350) which is pretty much 1 whole Islamic year

Fast the 6 days if you can.
