The primary source of Tafsir of the Quran is the Quran itself, take the verses of the revelation of the Quran for example, each verse little bit more detail on when the Quran was revealed:
شَهۡرُ رَمَضَانَ ٱلَّذِیۤ أُنزِلَ فِیهِ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ هُدࣰى لِّلنَّاسِ وَبَیِّنَـٰتࣲ مِّنَ ٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَٱلۡفُرۡقَانِۚ
The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion.
Al-Baqarah, Ayah 185
إِنَّاۤ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ فِی لَیۡلَةࣲ مُّبَـٰرَكَةٍۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِینَ﴿ ٣ ﴾
Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind].
Ad-Dukhān, Ayah 3
إِنَّاۤ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ فِی لَیۡلَةِ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ﴿ ١ ﴾
بِّسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِیمِ إِنَّاۤ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ فِی لَیۡلَةِ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ﴿ ١ ﴾
Indeed, We sent the Qur'an down during the Night of Decree.
Al-Qadr, Ayah 1
Then comes the ahadith.
Narrated Mu'awiyah b. Abi Sufyan :
The Prophet (ﷺ) as saying: Lailat al-qadr is the twenty-seventh night (of Ramadan)

We are in the 27th night right now, lets make our extra efforts count in what could be the night of decree, a night which is better than 1000 months!
